Grammar 4 : to be an to have ( finally )

Today’s lesson will be about the verbs être "etre" (to be) and avoir "a vo ar"(to have).

These two verbs define an individual: what they are and what they own. They are therefore the most important verbs in French conjugation. We will conjugate them in the present tense. The present tense exists in English, so I do not see the usefulness of explaining it in English.Enough explanations, let’s move on to the conjugation.

Être - TO BE ( etr )

je suis ( su e ) – I am

tu es ( e ) – you are

il est ( e ) – he / she / it is

nous sommes ( sum ) – we are

vous êtes ( et ) – you are

ils / elles sont ( son ) – they are

TO HAVE

j’ai ( je ) – I have

tu as ( a like in aligaton ) – you have

il a ( a ) – he / she / it has

nous avons ( a v on ) – we have

vous avez ( ave ) – you have

ils ont ( on ) – they have

In French, we do not have the pronoun it for objects.

We therefore use il if the object is masculine, elle if it is feminine, and il if it is neutral.

Vocabulary:

We have just learned the verbs être and avoir, so today’s lesson will consist of using them.

A simpler version of the presentation

je suis Alfred – im alfred ( use your own name )

j'ai dix ans (10 - this ) years old – im 10 ( use your own age )

je suis français – im french

je suis etudian ( e tu dian ) – im student ( use your own job )

In general , if you can use to be in English, you can use être in French.

Here is a small list of jobs in French that you can learn easily

policier ( po lee sier ) – polisman

chauffeur ( sho feur ) -chauffeur

pompier ( pompier ) – fireman

docteur ( dok teur ) -doctor

militaire ( meelee ter ) -soldier

The song ( today lets dicover the électro)

The French electronic scene is one of the biggest in the world, with many DJs, some of them very famous such as DJ Snake, Bob Sinclar, Daft Punk, David Guetta, and even more recently Gesaffelstein, who won a Grammy. But today, I would like to make you listen to some more niche artists that you may not know, yet who have still had a considerable impact on French electronic music: Vladimir Cauchemar, Urumi, Apache and Leblanc.

The movie ( Available on netflix )

Nothing to hide :What can Facebook or Google know about you in just 30 days?
Your sexual orientation? Your waking and sleeping hours? Your alcohol consumption and any criminal offenses? Your level of wealth and your creditworthiness?

Marc Meillassoux and Mihaela Gladovic conducted an experiment by hacking the iPhone and iMac of a young artist who had “nothing to hide” for one month. A hacker and an analyst set out to guess who this young man is and whether he truly has “nothing to hide.” He is far from imagining where this experience will lead him…

Today I’m going to introduce you to a crêpe recipe, and you’re probably thinking, “What is he talking about? I already know how to make crêpes.” And I would answer that these are the best crêpes in the world in terms of simplicity and flavor. After that, if you wish, you’re free to add your own personal ingredients (spread, fromage blanc, jam, honey, etc.).
